BLADE

The Bristol Laboratory for Advanced Dynamics Engineering (BLADE) is a major research and development facility for the engineering faculty at Bristol University. It operates as a network of interconnected laboratories, each of which specialises in some aspect of engineering dynamics.

As part of the expansion programme two new laboratories were constructed - dynamics testing and large scale earthquake similation testing - and major refurbishment of existing faculty buildings was carried out.

The two new laboratories are designed to high specifications with tight constraints on high mass, test load movements and place Bristol University at the forefront of dynamics research and promote an enlightened culture of engineering practice, breaking down the traditional barriers between theory and experiment. The research project continues to develop.
