East Kettering Development
East Kettering, part of the North Northamptonshire strategic growth area, is a proposed sustainable urban extension to Kettering, comprising 5,500 new homes, employment land, mixed-use areas, schools, a health clinic, hotel and leisure development and formal and informal open space.
In an initial commission, Clarke Bond undertook a highway design study for the main access and circulatory routes for the development. The main access route, Kettering Eastern Avenue, comprises a £35m, 8km part dual and part single carriageway route skirting the development crossing land requiring extensive impact mitigation.
The study involved highway engineering plus associated bridge engineering, cost estimating, geoenvironmental, flood risk, drainage and hydrology services, carrying the project from feasibility to preliminary design and transportation, planning and environmental issues.
In an extension to the original highway commission, Clarke Bond was appointed to lead the collation of a strategy document detailing all elements of the development.
