Exeter Innovation Centre
Located on the University of Exeter campus, the Exeter Innovation Centre is designed to attract high-tech, high-growth businesses to the university, through the provision of technology-rich accommodation in an academic research-based environment.
The 3000 m2 building provides office and laboratory facilities, hot desks, meeting rooms and conference facilities and a cafe with terrace seating. Awarded a BREEAM 'excellent' rating, the building adopts sustainable principles in the design and operation including rainwater harvesting, and the use of Termodeck, a fan assisted heating, cooling and ventilation system which, using the properties of thermal massing in the hollow core concrete slabs, maintains low-energy comfort.
The centre was awarded 'Building of the Year (2008) by the Forum for the Built Environment.
