Aston Student Village

Replacing existing student accommodation, the design of four new blocks, between nine and 18-storeys in height providing over 2,353 en-suite rooms, will create a vibrant new district in Birmingham city centre with public plazas, offices, retail and sports facilities.

Clarkebond has been involved with the development since the early design work, carrying out geoenvironmental studies, investigation of infrastructure data from the previous development and consultation with the Environment Agency and local authorities. Any implications were explored and resolved prior to planning, minimising disruption and delay to the whole programme.

Our detailed option appraisal, considered various structural solutions taking into consideration acoustics, energy use, disruption to existing site activities and the final BREEAM rating. The first phase of development comprises 1,300 rooms.
