Mountain Ash Care Centre
This new 2,155m2 facility for Rhondda Cynon Taff Local Health Board and North Glamorgan NHS Trust accommodates a One4All Centre and GP practice and Social Care Centre; over 10 consulting rooms three treatment rooms, waiting areas, a library and staff room arranged around a central courtyard.
The design of the two storey brownfield development, responds to the geographical and geological conditions of the sloping site and its proximity to the railway line and River Cynon. A hybrid concrete frame solution is adopted below ground floor with steel frame above with pile cap foundations.
A strategic flood risk assessment, carried out by Clarke Bond, led to the design of a SUDS compliant drainage system across the development including porous paving for car parking areas and the use of flood resistant construction and materials at ground level.
