Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre

Located on the river Usk in Newport this new £13.5m development comprises of two theatre spaces, a main 493-seat theatre with proscenium arch and fly tower, a 150-seat studio, dance and recording studios, exhibition gallery, workshop spaces, and a cafe and bar area.

Sandwiched between the historic river wall and the main dual carriageway to the city the project presented a number of engineering challenges including the design of a deep reinforced concrete waterproof basement, scheduled during construction after the discovery of a medieval timber ship.
