Stockport College

Stockport College

The 50,000m2 development of this college campus comprises a series of new and refurbished buildings, including listed Victorian buildings of the former St Thomas's hospital, to create a 21st century facility for over 10,000 students.

Involved from the early stages of the project Deakin Walton, now part of Clarke Bond, carried out detailed structural surveys prior to site acquisition and led the specialist drainage, asbestos and timber surveys and ground investigation works, advising on road closures and party wall implications.

Construction will be completed over three phases, the final as the largest build including the main public space - the 'hub' - comprising the library and a performing arts space. New buildings use a variety of materials, construction methods and sustainable design allowing for integration of services and future flexibility.

Services: structural engineering, civil engineering.
